Effective communication is crucial when unforeseen crisis emerges in an acute care setting, whether it’s a crisis limited to an individual patient or family, or a large-scale emergency that affects the entire hospital or health system.

This live, in-person training builds effective communication skills that enhance the crisis intervention strategies your case managers or care management teams learned in our online Crisis Intervention and Management course.

In this engaging practicum, care managers will learn to describe communication goals and best practices for huddles and interdisciplinary communication; defines care conferencing and the triggers that should initiate it; explores best practices for conducting a successful care conference; and delivers strategies for de-escalation.

Your team will also explore psychological/emotional first aid, and practice Motivational Interviewing, SBIRT (Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment), and other strategies.
