Annual event focuses on case management education, advocacy
Case management experts, advocates and leaders will join hundreds of care managers and case managers in Chicago next week for four days of education and inspiration aimed at enhancing best practices, building collaborative care teams and improving outcomes in medical, social and behavioral health.
The Case Management Society of America’s 2018 Conference & Expo will feature an impressive lineup of keynote speakers, workshops, and exhibitors, including a team from Care Excellence, a leading provider of workforce training and online education for case managers. The 28th annual event will be held June 19-23 at Chicago’s McCormick Place convention center.
Speakers headlining the conference include Travis Stork, MD, board certified emergency medicine physician and host of the award-winning TV talk show “The Doctors”; Allan J. Hamilton, MD, FACS, a University of Arizona professor in neurosurgery, radiation oncology and other fields who has been named “One of America’s Best Doctors”; and Rick Rigsby, PhD, a motivational speaker, former television journalist and President and CEO of Rick Rigsby Communications.
Exciting Plenary Addresses
In his plenary address, Dr. Stork will discuss how to live “Your Best Life,” inspiring attendees to take control of their own health and equipping them with tools that lead to a healthier, more satisfying life. Passionate about preventative medicine, Dr. Stork is the best-selling author of several books, including The Doctor’s Diet, The Lean Belly Prescription, and The Doctor Is In: A 7-Step Prescription for Optimal Wellness.
Dr. Hamilton’s keynote, “How Healthy is Healthcare in the 21sts Century,” will examine the underlying causes that have led to chaos and disarray in the U.S. healthcare system, and strategies for creating a more empathetic system that improves the quality of patients’ lives and the lives of healthcare professionals.
Dr. Rigsby will speak on “Making an Impact”: how to move beyond the shallow and superficial trappings encouraged by technology and social media, and rediscover what is important and meaningful in your career and your personal life.
Workshops Highlight Areas of Need
Workshops offered during the conference are arranged by specific “tracks,” including population health, leadership, long-term care, acute care, and discipline-specific case management.
Topics covered range from palliative care and hospice, to reducing cost and disability scores while increasing quality of life, to mindful leadership strategies, to engaging a collaborative method to reduce non-emergent ED visits.
